About

Ngā Hau Māngere Birthing Centre is a place where māmā can rest, recover, and feel at home.

The centre has 13 private suites, each with a queen-size bed, ensuite bathroom, TV, and a bath suitable for water births.

To book a stay, you will need to be registered with a midwife (LMC) who holds an Access Agreement with our centre. A list of midwives who birth here can be found below.

Your journey with us:

  1. Find an LMC — Confirm your booking with a midwife who holds an Access Agreement. With your consent, a student midwife may also assist under supervision.
  2. Pre-admission visit — Your midwife can arrange a visit to the centre before your birth. We also offer guided tours every Wednesday and Saturday — email or call us to arrange a time.
  3. When labour begins — Contact your midwife. They will coordinate with us to prepare for your arrival.
  4. Birth — Labour and give birth in your private suite, supported by your midwife and our experienced team.
  5. Postnatal care — Stay for up to two nights, with support partners welcome. Our team will guide you on breastfeeding and newborn care.
  6. Ongoing support — We will connect you with wrap-around services so you leave feeling confident and ready to care for your pēpī at home.
