Central Otago Maternity Unit, Alexandra, is a primary birthing unit staffed by nurses and midwives who provide round the clock care for women during and after giving birth. Qualified staff will assist your LMC carer during labour and birth. A birthing pool is available.
Post-birth, we have 3 queen-sized private rooms in a home-like nurturing environment for women and their partners/whānau. Staff offer help with caring for your new baby and breastfeeding.
Women may also choose to transfer to Central Otago Maternity Unit after birthing elsewhere.
