Hello and congratulations on your pregnancy! I’m Rachel from Rata Midwives. After the births of my three boys, I developed a deep passion for supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and beyond. I believe birth is powerful, personal, and transformative, and that women make the best decisions when they feel informed, heard, and respected.

My care is woman-centred and focused on informed choice. You’re the expert on your body, and I’m here to offer evidence-based information, open communication, and supportive midwifery care. I trust physiological birth and support home and primary birth settings, while also ensuring smooth transfer if extra support is needed.

It’s a privilege to be part of such an important time, and my goal is to create a positive, empowering, and memorable experience as you welcome your baby into the world.

I am often in arranged appointments or at births, which are important one-on-one times that should not be disrupted. My clinic days are Monday morning at Oromairaki Primary Birthing Unit in Rolleston (Norman Kirk Drive), and Wednesday morning at Kurawaka Waipapa Primary Birthing Unit in Christchurch City (Antigua Street).
