Kia ora I'm Karaena, a registered midwife and mother of 5 young adults. I have recently started practising on the West Coast/Te Tai Poutini. I'm so glad to be here, working alongside the wonderful team at Pikorua Midwifery.

Becoming a mother is one of life's most profound journeys. I'm here to walk in partnership with you and your whanau every step of the way, from those early weeks of pregnancy through to birth and into those precious first 6 weeks with your pēpi.

I believe you deserve to feel heard, informed, and supported at every stage. I'll make sure you have evidence-based information to make choices that feel right for you and your whanau, because this is your pregnancy journey, and my role is to advocate for you and your healthcare choices. I work closely with my midwifery and obstetric colleagues, and will facilitate access to complex care services with your informed consent should the need arise.
