Savy Docherty (She/her)
About me
Kia ora,
My name is Savy, I’m a Kahu Pōkai/LMC midwife, offering evidence-based continuity of care throughout pregnancy, labour and birth, and the postnatal period.
Born and raised in Pōneke, I became a midwife following a passion for women’s health that then evolved into a love for midwifery care.
As a Queer person, I’m passionate about providing care that is safe, affirming, and inclusive for our LGBTQIA+ whānau. My aim is always to create a space where you feel respected, heard, and able to be fully yourself.
In my practice, I prioritise culturally safe, inclusive, and individualised care. Every whānau is different, and I strive to provide care that reflects your values, needs, and preferences, while supporting you to feel heard and respected every step of the way. I place strong importance on informed choice and informed consent, sharing information in a way that supports you to make decisions that feel right for you and your whānau.
I support birth wherever you feel safest—whether that’s at home, a primary birthing unit, or Wellington Hospital.
I work alongside my wonderful colleagues at Domino Midwives, where we share a philosophy of holistic, natural, and whānau-centred care.
Antenatal clinics are held at our clinic in Newtown, and I also offer home visits when needed. After your pēpi is born, postnatal visits take place in your home for up to six weeks, allowing care to happen in the comfort of your own whare (home).
I feel privileged to build trusting partnerships with hapū people and their whānau and to walk alongside you during this transformative time.
