I’m Lena, an LMC midwife with Ahu Midwifery. I whakapapa to Ngāti Maniapoto and now live in Tairāwhiti, where I’m raising my three tamariki.

I’ve been a midwife since 2018, working in both community and hospital settings. I provide holistic, evidence-based care throughout pregnancy, birth and postnatal period, with a strong focus on empathy, kindness, and whānau-centred support.

I take a small caseload to ensure my care is personal, supportive, and responsive to the needs of each hapū māmā and whānau. I’m passionate about supporting physiological birth, while also recognising the value of intervention when needed. I work closely with my obstetric colleagues to ensure safe, collaborative care.

I work in partnership with Christina Casey - together we share the on call component of care for labour, birth or other urgent care. You will also meet Christina during your pregnancy so she will become a familiar face too.
