About me
Tēnā koutou. I am a mother, midwife and bodyworker. My whānau and I were lucky enough to move here from Australia at the start of 2021. Since we arrived, we have lived in the beautiful Eastern Bay of Plenty. I have worked at both Rotorua and Whakatāne Hospitals.
My approach to midwifery is a philosophy of kind, present, steady and humble. Midwifery is a calling for me in what feels like an ‘old-fashioned’ way. The transformation of pregnancy, birth and the time afterwards are sacred terrain for me as a midwife.
In the spirit of my midwifery philosophy and staying humble, I am keen to share that I completed my graduate year in 2021 (in Rotorua). Before which I worked in outdoor education with young people in remote, wild places and then as a birth attendant/doula.
I am available to provide midwifery services for whānau planning to birth at home in the Eastern Bay of Plenty area.
I offer a holistic care perspective. My midwifery care includes things like support for nutrition, movement and bodywork.
You can read more about my midwifery mahi in my monthly newsletter - https://artofthespiral.substack.com/
Importantly – my fluency in te reo Māori is still very basic. I have a long way to go to be able to kōrero Māori more during the journey of midwifery care but it is a priority for me.
