Deina Payne

Tēnā koe! Congratulations!

I am a Māori midwife born, raised, married and birthed all of my tamariki here in Te Tai Tokerau, I completed my education and training within the boundaries of Te Whare Tapu O Ngāpuhi, under the korowai of Te Kāhu Wāhine.

It is my deepest privilege to serve our people.

I share a caseload with Kelsey, alternating on-call with pregnancy and postnatal care. You will meet both of us regularly and the midwife that is on-call will attend your birth. Working this way ensures everyone’s safety and enables balance for our own whānau.

I am committed to serving whānau Māori to contribute to equity in healthcare.

We reserve space for homebirth and are also confident providing care within the hospital maternity setting if needed.

Our group practice includes Tamela and Stacey. Collectively we share a philosophy that centres whānau and advocates for the reclamation of rangatiratanga, mana wāhine and mana motuhake in hapūtanga, birth and raising future uri.
