Congratulations on your pregnancy!

My name is Athena, a New Zealand trained midwife working in the Counties Manukau region, in the Papakura area. I work in partnership with women and whānau, to provide care in the antenatal, labour and birth and postnatal period. My philosophy as a midwife is to support women through their pregnancy through continuity of care, shared decision making and informed consent. If you require specialist care during your pregnancy, I will consult and liaise with the obstetric team at Middlemore Hospital with your consent and work to continue providing continuity of care.

I work in a team of four to support each other and provide you with back up care if necessary and I hold my clinics at the Papakura Maternity Unit on a Thursday.
