My name is Abby and I'm a British Trained Midwife. I started my professional career as a Gynae Nurse but fell in love with Midwifery so retrained and have worked as a Midwife for the past 16 years. I worked in Auckland as a Clinical Charge Midwife and then moved to Nelson as a LMC for the past 5 years.

My aim is for you to always feel like the most powerful person in the room and feel heard. This isn't my birth, it’s yours. My role is to give you the unbiased info and tools you need to make the important choices, optimise your health during pregnancy and also enhance your birth experience.

I don't have a preference for a particular birth philosophy as I want to empower you to make your own choices. I'm comfortable in any environment and have experience in any setting. I love home births but also comfortable in hospitals.

Birth at home, Motueka Unit or Hospital, your pregnancy, your choice, I’ll be there honouring your wishes & holding your space.

Myself, Sian Redman and Laura Mallory are a small team and take small numbers to maximise the quality of care. We do extended birth preference visits and have good resources such as TENs machines. I do have an information leaflet I can send that explains how I work in the trio, and introduces our team members and our backgrounds in more detail. It also gives advice on what to expect in early pregnancy. I'll try my best to contact you within 48 hours to arrange an initial phone call.
